On the 15th December, the inauguration of contingency’s warehouse of Mauritius Red Cross Rodrigues Branch took place at Mont Plaisir in the presence of Mrs. Nicolson Lisette, Deputy chief Commissary of Rodrigues Island, Me. Siven Tirvasen, actual President of Mauritius Red Cross, Mr. Martin Marin, Representing of PIROI-French Red Cross, and Mr. Navin Mahadoo, acting Director of Mauritius Red Cross Society and Mrs. Marie Jenifer Castel, Rodrigues’s branch Director.
Financed by Australian embassy and PIROI-French Red Cross, this warehouse have built with the aim of increasing the Rodrigues’s branch capabilities to response with efficiency in disaster calamities nearby local communities. A stock of contingency equipment has been beforehand prepositioned and contains some emergency materials like shelter tool kit, camp beds, tents, generators, stretchers, blankets etc.
This emergency will permit the local branch to be more independent after high local damage due of passing a cyclone or natural disasters. This construction’s project of 1.6 million rupees supported by Australian aid, forms part of a global project entitled ‘’Building Safer and Resilient Communities in Mauritius and Rodrigues’’ who closed its phase 4 this year and which is implemented by Mauritius Red Cross Society in collaboration with PIROI, who has renewed his financial and technical support in 2019.Retour
